Anti-Ageing Injectables FAQ’s

  • Who will carry out the treatment?

Injectable treatments are only carried out by Dr Benning who is fully trained and experienced in injectables. Before your first treatment in the clinic, you will be required to have a consultation to determine your requirements and give counselling of individual treatments offered.

  • How long does the treatment last for?

Typically, it should last for up to three to four months.

  • How long before effects of the treatment can be seen?

Results usually start to become visible after 3-4 days however it can take up to 14 days to see the full effects of the treatment.

  • Is this treatment safe?

Botulinum Toxin as a muscle relaxant has an excellent safety record and a long record of use in medicine. It has been used successfully in adults and children in a variety of medical conditions over the last 20 years. It has been used cosmetically to treat facial wrinkles for about 15 years and has become one of the most popular and frequently used cosmetic treatments.

  • Are there any side effects?

In most cases there will be no side effects to a treatment. A small minority of people report the following symptoms:

Redness – a small amount of redness at the site of injection is common, this usually quickly disappears over minutes

Bruising - For the majority of patients, the area of injection will appear no different. For a small minority, some minor bruising may occur.

Bumps - A few minutes after treatment small bumps may be visible on the skin. These will disappear very quickly.

All possible side effects will be discussed with you during your pre treatment consultation.

  • What happens when it wears off?

After three to four months the toxin will have worn off and your muscles will function as they did before the treatment. This means that the wrinkles you smoothed or reduced will slowly begin to appear again.

  • Can I keep having treatment?

Yes, botulinum toxin does not ‘build up’ or accumulate in your system. It is recommended that treatments are scheduled at about 12-16 weeks. This is to avoid the bodies immune system producing antibodies to the toxin.  This can happen if the treatment is given at too frequent intervals and would render future treatments ineffective.  Once the effects have worn off, it is safe for you to top up treatments in the same area. It is also perfectly safe to have multiple treatments in different areas at the same time.

  • What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is Excessive Sweating and usually most problematic in the underarm area. It can be embarrassing and at times uncomfortable, however treatment is available to help in the form of Botulinum Toxin Injections.
